"When a tree falls in a forest" is a moving image adaptation of Schrodinger's Cat thought experiement and one film in a series of shorts set in the same hotel room 'Hotel Berlin', each shot by a different director. Rising from a scientific education, Sophie looks to use macabre cinematic tones to examine the intellectual conundrums of quantum mechanics when applied to the conundrums of the human psyche.
